Alexandria Board of Selectmen

January 24, 2008

Members Present:     Cindy Williams and Tom McGowan
Don Gangemi is out on health leave

The meeting came to order at 6:05 p.m.

Minutes:

The minutes of January 10 were approved by a vote of 2-0 with slight corrections.

The minutes of January 17 were distributed for review and will be voted on next week.

Department Heads:

Christie reported that no building permits were issued this week; no purchase orders
were issued and one temporary driveway permit was issued on Plumer Hill Road.
She met with the budget committee on Monday evening and went over questions that
they had.  The sign-up period for local elections is from January 23 to February 1.
Petitioned warrant articles are due by February 5.

Items Requiring Signature:

The Wellington Park agreement will be signed after the money is approved at town
meeting. Approximately $1870 was collected in Wellington Pass income in 2007.

The sand policy was signed allowing for 5 five-gallon pails of sand to be taken for
personal use; no contractors allowed.  The vote on the policy was 2-0.
Proposals were received from Bonnette, Page and Stone on the renovations that the
police department would like. Christie was asked to review these with the contractor.

Public Input:

Carol Panaggio asked who runs the fire department now; she was told Dennis Manchester
is the new chief.  She also asked who the fire warden is.  The answer is that Art Barron is the
fire warden, but his nomination form has not been signed by the selectmen and will be returned
by the state.  The selectmen will ask to meet with him once the form has been received.
Chief Hinkle said that his meeting with Maggie LaBerge went well and some of the questions
were coming from her as chair of the planning board for research on town statistics. The chief
said that a home invasion occurred at the Ledges in Hebron.  The department in Alexandria
has stepped up patrols in that area and has been issued directives for patrol on each shift. The NH
Police Standards and Training Council has approved Chief Hinkle’s request to use the bicycle in
place of the running test in his physical training.  Cindy Williams asked Frank to get a copy of
the minutes from the council’s last meeting that show that approval.

Adjournment:

Tom McGowan made a motion to adjourn at 6:31 p.m.; seconded by Cindy.  Vote=2-0

Respectfully submitted,  Christie Phelps, Town Administrator
