Alexandria Board of Selectmen
August 14, 2008
Work Session: At 5:00 p.m. a work session was convened to discuss the upcoming budget schedule and what types of information the selectmen are looking for in the departmental requests. At 5:30, the selectmen met with Larry Monroe at the request of the Board of Tax and Land Appeals. Mr. Monroe stated that his assessment, per BTLA, was supposed to stay the same. It was pointed out to him that in the written decision from BTLA, it said that the assessment should stay the same until modifications were made to the building or the town did a town-wide update. A town-wide update was done in 2007, resulting in a different assessment for Mr. Monroe. His abatement did result in a lowering of the 2007 numbers, but he felt it should be more. The work session ended with Mr. Monroe determining that he would continue his appeal to BTLA.
Deliberative Session: The deliberative session came to order at 6:00 p.m. with all members present. The public hearing regarding the changing of 911 numbers for the condominiums at The Ledges commenced. The manager of the complex was present. Representatives from 911 explained that by giving all the units an address of 955 West Shore Road, it could conceivably create confusion for emergency workers who are not familiar with the setup and could result in a delay of vital services. The roads within the development do have names and the units should be addressed accordingly. It was stated that 911 would be willing to coordinate the unit numbers with the new addressing to assist the town.
