Alexandria Selectmen’s Meeting
Work Session:
There was some discussion of the need for a drain for the highway garage floor. Jeff is working on getting estimates. The selectmen also determined which member would talk on various warrant articles at the town meeting. Star Buildings has been contacted and requested to get in touch with Jeff regarding some moisture problems he is having at the highway garage.
Deliberative Session:
Peg Reilly asked Ken Patten to stand and she made a presentation to him of the first town report for this year. The report is dedicated to Ken. He thanked the selectmen for the honor.
Peg said there will be no meeting on the 8th of March.
Distribution of Minutes: The minutes of February 22 were distributed for review.
Approval of Minutes: The minutes of February 15 were tabled
Department Heads:
Jeff Cantara, Road Agent: The septic tank was frozen at the highway garage; that has been taken care of now. A professional cleaning company came in to sanitize the floors. The crew has been working on thawing culvert pipes. Roads will be posted shortly. Jeff is working with the state to see if the town can do inspections in house as he does have a person who is certified.
Jeff said he hoped he has the selectmen’s support at town meeting. He does not want to be seen as expensive, but feels that the town needs to catch up on maintenance.
Conservation Commission: Kate Barrett was in for the conservation commission. They are hosting two workshops on March 5 regarding wetlands permitting. The first session is at 3; the second at 7. The conservation commission would like to see the bog designated as a site worth saving. Money may be available through an LCHIP grant.

board and selectmen.
The selectmen approved an abatement for Marion Weber.
Follow Ups:
Generator: The contractor is waiting for pricing from John Dunklee, an electrician.
Old Business:
Ongoing
New Business:
intends to complete the
contract. The attorney can handle this.
Alternative Date for Town Meeting: Cindy asked if an alternative date should be set in the event the town meeting needs to be continued. Peg did not feel it would run that long.
Landscaping Project: Judy Kraemer asked for a go ahead to
begin soliciting donations
for the landscaping project
for town hall. The selectmen asked
Christie to contact her and
let her know she can
begin.
Daylight Savings Time: Jeff was asked if he was aware that daylight savings time is earlier this year. He said he is, but the crew will not change to four day weeks until the week after the first day of spring.
E-mail Retention: Christie
made an inquiry of LGC regarding the retention of e-mails.
She was told to treat e-mails just the same as if they were received in the
regular mail. If you would keep it from
regular mail, keep the e-mail; if you would throw it out from regular mail;
throw it out.
Dennis Manchester: George
and Dennis attended a meeting regarding an August bike race from
town that much as far as traffic as the race will go through within an hour to
an hour and
a half. The race will include participants
from around the world. Members of the Blue Knights will be handling the moving
traffic of the bicycles and their support vehicles.
Local law enforcement will be background assistance.
Public Input
Maggie LaBerge: On April 28 the annual planning and zoning
conference will be held. Anyone interested in attending should go to the
website for the Office of Energy and Planning.
It is usually held in
those present. It is hope that this will
become an annual community day.
Larry Stickney: Mr. Stickney asked why the electrician thought the highway department should do the trenching for the generator project as it seems like it is going to be a lot of work. Christie explained that it was offered as an option; not a requirement, and would save the town some money. The contractor does have his own equipment; it is just more expensive for him to mobilize it if the highway department is available.
