Alexandria Historical Society

Welcome to the Alexandria Historical Society (AHS)...
a non-profit organization and member of the Newfound Area Chamber of Commerce. The AHS is located in the former Pearl & Everett Tucker residence, currently owned by the Town of Alexandria and leased to the society for a nominal yearly fee. Restoration of the Tucker House has been accomplished by volunteer labor from members and friends, and is financed by the Society through the collection of dues, money raised at fund-raising events, and much appreciated donations from the community. Over the years the AHS has been involved in many activities. Above and on future pages you will see photos of these activities. This web site will be updated regularly as needed. As successful as we’ve been in our fund-raising efforts, it is a continual struggle to raise the money needed to restore and maintain a house and grounds. The society is always looking for new members. Membership is only $7.50 per year, which includes a quarterly newsletter as well as discounts at various local businesses because you are also a group member of the Chamber of Commerce. The AHS is also eager to acquire more artifacts. If you have anything you would be willing to donate, we would certainly be grateful. We have a large vault, with shelves, in the house, installed in 2002. Another service we offer is free internet access on Monday evenings from 4 pm to 6 pm. The AHS officers and members thank you for your interest and support. Above: Beverly Patten prepares one of the many tables for our annual yard sale held in August.
