Alexandria, New Hampshire
Alexandria obtained its grant in 1753 and its name was probably given in remembrance of the city of Alexandria, Virginia. It was the birthplace of Luther C. Ladd, the first enlisted soldier to lose his life in the Civil War. One of the town's scenic attractions is Mount Mowglis, commemorating the hero of the Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling.
